Historic Band
Walnut Groove
Year in Review

The 2007 school year started off with some very exciting pep band games along with some significant performances from the Historic Band program. The Historic Band performed for the yearly Massing of the Colors and the Veterans Day Parade and concluded their season with a performance at the 2007 Folk Alliance International Folk and Music Festival in February. The Fall concert included the song Abide with Me and The Prayer of St. Gregory in which the band performed for John Latta, former band flautist, who passed away earlier that year. Impressive solos were performed by Julian Poon, Matt Gooden, and Taylor Fortney. The band returned in the Spring semester for a performance for St. Louis Catholic Church 50th Anniversary in January.

After a great showing at All West, the band received superior ratings at concert festival, performing Block M and The Raymond Overture. In April the band also featured many of his seniors performing solos in the "John Sandridge Memorial Concert," and was honored with a performance at the Tennessee Music Educators Association State Conference. The Spring Concert was named "Melodic Venture" and incorporated works from adventurous themes including: The Lord of the Rings by De Meij, Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Pirates of the Caribbean. Julian Poon also performed an Ocarina solo in The Legend of Zelda.   The band rounded out the year with their annual presence at Graduation.
